Ok, first off, I told myself I don't know how many times that I wasn't going to be ANYWAY kind of review of any kind; but, here I am, review the DVD Special Release of The Star Wars - The Clone Wars - The Complete Season One. [link]

Yeah, I failed at that; because, here I am, doing a review of the DVD Special release... yeah...

Anyway, I already saw the First Season of the Clone Wars on YouTube. Yeah, I know, it's lame; but, what the hell, watching TV on YouTube is free... after paing the internet connections fees. I for one, am grateful for those of you out there in internet land to take the time to rip, edit and upload all the free TV shows onto YouTube, thank you.

Also, if any of you have taken the time to watching anything on YouTube, you will know the pain. Several problems make themselves apparent when watching anything on YouTube. The 10 minute time limit that YouTube places on all it's videos ( most, anyway ), missing video clips of episodes, the naming of episodes, etc. Anyway, it's not really a great way to enjoy a show or movie.

For those of you who don't know, The Clone Wars is about the... The Clone Wars in the Star Wars Universe. Taking place between the Second Movie; Attack of Clones, and the before the thrid movie; Revenge of The Sith, just to give you a general idea of the time line. During this time period you ge to watch the epic tale of the Clone Troopers against The Droid Amry; that's the nut shell if the series.

The series it'sself is... alright. In terms of story, I'd give it a 6/ 10. It's the greatest, and the plot of each spisode moves to fast and a lot of build up is missed out. Yeah, I know, it's a 30 minute TV show and it's not like the 2 'n' half hour long movies. There has been a ton of TV shows in the past that have been the same length being able to tell a story in that amount of time. It's a same, really. A lot of the plots of each episode is great, they just need the time to build it up. If the episodes were a bit longer, maybe an hour longer, the story would be way fuking better.

The saving grace of the Clone Wars series is the Art Style. Oh, My, God, is it good. I can watch it and lose myself in the art work alone. I love the style! Pretty much what they did was taken the Art Style of the Clone Wars Animated Series [link] and made into a 3D rep of that. [link]

And that's not even the really cool of the Art Style. I didn't notice this the first time I watched the series ( I blame YouTube for it ) but the back grounds. Beautiful! The back drop of every scene is done in a brush stroke style which for me, adds a lot to the style. I find myself checking out the back ground and the sky line in the back, more than watching what's the cameras focus of the scene. And, if you look closely, you'll notice that EVERYTHING is coloured with this paint rush finish.

Also, from time to time, you forget that you are watching a 3D medium TV show; which for me is a huge plus. If you can lose yourself in the Art Style like that, someone is doing their job.

However... a HUGE drawback, is the special features. Before I get into it, I'm BIG on special features, I'm a sucker for them... and Easter Eggs. Anyway, if I'm buying a DVD, I like to get the Special DVD Release simply because of the fact that MOST of the time, I'm going to get more special features. Now, lets talk about the Speaical Features of The Clone Wars - Season One... as soon as... I find them... hmmm... yeah... there are a little hard to find. You have to select the "Episodes" option and from there, you can find the Behind-The-Scenes stuff for the episodes. It's a little confusing and not that clear. Normally, I just throw in the DVD and start watching away. Yeah, I'm kinda nit-picking on that one.

Anyway, overall... I say it's a buy for someone who is a fan of the Star Wars Universe and anyone who loves the Troopers. It's fun, it's enjoyable, it's a good way to waste sometime... if you can over look the racial profiling of some of the alien creatures and the jailbait that is Ahsoka.
