Hey Everybody,
Yes, I am back again. I am looking for a illustrator to continue on with a web series that I'm currently producing for my site (FYI - the site isn't up and running at the moment, looking at end of summer launch).
The name of the series is called, Fallen And Broken. You can easily find the plot premise here unforgiven-rage.deviantart.com… . Please have a read.
Brass tacks
-The web series itself is black and white. Some colour will be needed from time to time, but only used as tool to draw attention or force a point (ie - blood).
- I'm looking for a flexible style between manga and western comics. You should be able to match up with the style that the first illustrator started. Examples with be shared through email. It's not important that the styles match up PERFECTLY.
- The aesthetic is... unique as far as I can tell. What I'm looking for is rough sketch feeling, something looks sorta incomplete. There wont be much need of hard solid lines. Again, hard lines will be used to draw attention and force a point.
- Heavy on the fantasy. Creatures, weapons, monsters, armour. Also, elements of sci-fi, tech and fire arms, vehicles. Also, there the series will have a strong elements of horror.
- A good deal of action and violence. It won't be ultra violent. Lots of sword play. Little to no gore. Not to say that there won't zero gore. I see gore as a tool that should be used only when needed. This goes for sex and nudity; however, relax, at the moment, I don't see the need for sex or nudity.
- You will only be asked and commissioned to do the pages. You wont do character designs. I want your focus on the pages. I'm HOPING to get a page per week. At the moment, the first chapter is done ( 16 pages ). So, we do have some breathing room.
- Lettering is part of the job. If you can't letter, don't apply.
- You will be commissioned per page. Paypal only. No points.
Final Notes
I will require a test commission or two before I decided if you are a fit for the project. It's important to me that we sync. After all, I'm the writer and editor for the web series and it's vital that we are able to work together and have good communication. Only way to see if it works, is by doing a few test commissions. Hell, you might not like working with me. Also, trust is equally important.
Just so you know, my first illustrator felt that it was time to move on to new projects. And as such, you will not be tied down to the project. If you wish to move onto something else, you are free to do so. I only ask that you finish the chapter that you started. That's my only set in stone rule at the moment. As long as you stay, you'll always have a commission waiting. This is a long term project. Long term sorta depends on how many pages you can pump out.
Also, it should be noted, this is my first serious project. I'm new to this, it's been a sharp learning curve. If you're a pro and have been doing for a long while, you might not want to jump on board, because this is an indie project of mine. At the moment, I'm paying for everything out of my pocket. For me, this is a labour of love. This means the budget is tight ( I'm just going to throw this out there, if you wish to volunteer your time and talents, I am totally ok with that ).
I'm not going to ask or state what my budget is. I want to try work with YOUR rates. Team dynamics is more important to me. If we work well together, I'll find away around the budget to make it work. Also, I don't want to short change anyone and I don't want to insult anyone. Also, I just don't think it's appropriate to discuss payment in a open thread.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please share them. Hope to hear from you shortly. Message or note.
